Inner Compass
Your Nervous System. Your Map. Your Way.
A practical and compassionate approach to understanding yourself
through the lens of your body's innate intelligence.
Let the wisdom of your nervous system
guide you home to yourself.
Inner Compass helps you to learn your nervous system’s language and to follow the signals of your body. In this way, your nervous system becomes your ally that helps you to return to your centre again and again: steady, rooted, alive, with a sense of possibility and choice.
Welcome
Inner Compass is a space to slow down, reconnect, and listen inward. This 10-session journey combines nervous system education with embodied exploration — helping you not only to understand the patterns beneath your stress, anxiety, or overwhelm, but also gently shift them through practice. Through a blend of mapping, somatic tools, and supported reflection, you’ll build a deeper relationship with your own system and develop practical ways to return to steadiness, connection, and choice. Integrating your current life situation and challenges, as well as what emerges along the way, you'll learn to navigate by your system's wise guidance. Whether you’re seeking greater resilience, clarity, or simply space to breathe, this work offers a grounded path home to yourself.
“The state of our nervous system shapes
the stories we tell ourselves.”
(Deb Dana)
Why understanding and tending to your nervous system matters
Your nervous system is not just a biological system — it’s the foundation of how you relate to yourself, others, and the world around you. It influences how you respond to stress, how you connect in relationships, how safe or anxious you feel in your own skin, and how resourced you are to meet life’s challenges.
When we understand our nervous system through a Polyvagal lens, we begin to see that our patterns of reactivity, shutdown, or overwhelm aren’t personal failings — they’re intelligent, adaptive responses shaped by our history and environment. Knowing this, we can let go of shame and self-blame, and cultivate curiosity and compassion. This opens up more choice and creates a life-long pathway for healing.
Working directly with your nervous system — rather than just learning theory — helps bring these insights into your lived experience. Through somatic exploration and regulation tools, you can build real capacity for presence, ease, and resilience. Inner Compass helps you learn to listen more deeply to your body’s communication and offers practical tools for responding in ways that support you in your day to day life.
When you understand and work with your nervous system, things change: the world begins to feel different. There’s more space to breathe, to feel, to connect and to choose how you relate and move through life.

The benefits of nervous system awareness and allyship
Greater emotional regulation and resilience
Learn how to recognize your nervous system states and support yourself through overwhelm, anxiety, or shutdown. Over time, this builds the inner flexibility to meet life’s ups and downs with more steadiness and care.
Increased capacity for presence, connection, and creativity
As your system becomes more regulated, it’s easier to stay present in your body and open to connection with others. From this place, creativity flows more freely and life feels more vivid and engaging.
Deeper understanding of triggers, reactions, and patterns
By mapping your nervous system responses, you’ll begin to see why certain things set you off — and how those patterns were once protective. This clarity can soften judgment and create space for new ways of relating.
A felt sense of safety and groundedness
Safety is something we experience in the body. Through this work, you’ll cultivate a sense of inner anchoring, where you can land even when life feels uncertain or challenging.
Choice to respond rather than react
You’ll learn practical, somatic tools to work with your triggers and create more choice and agency in how you respond.
More ease in relationships and decision-making
When your nervous system is settled, it’s easier to access empathy, communicate clearly, and navigate decisions without spiraling into doubt or reactivity. This opens up more nourishing and balanced connections.
Real empowerment
Understanding your nervous system doesn't mean accumulating more information. 'Knowledge is only a rumour until it's in your muscles and bones' says a proverb from Papua New Guinea. What we practice here is embodying your understanding, growing your capacity and living what you learn.
How is this different from the Somatic Therapy sessions you offer?
Whilst Somatic Therapy and Inner Compass sessions may feel the same, depending on the client, the main difference between the two is that Inner Compass is more structured: we systematically explore and map the way our nervous systems work use the educational background and theory as the starting point for exploring your nervous system and how this shows up in your life. In the Somatic Therapy sessions, on the other hand, we start with where you are and what you are looking for support with, work with what emerges in the moment, based on the signals your nervous system communicates, and include educational elements as and when it feels supportive to the process.
“This work is a subtle and deep learning of the parts of us we often ignore
—caring for our embodied experience to become more grounded and clear. I came with a mix of life transitions: post-menopause, long marriage, motherhood, loss of my mother, career ending, and a new ADHD diagnosis. I longed to feel calmer, more regulated, and improve self-care and relationships.
Through these sessions, I gained insight into my holistic experience and now have tools to support myself—catching the overwhelm before it spirals, tending to my needs, and recognising when I’m falling back into old stories. Being gently reminded that my body and feelings need care, not just mind-based fixes, has made a real difference. I’d recommend this work to anyone feeling stuck where talking therapy no longer helps.”
(Angie Koetler)
More than just knowing- why somatic practice matters
Reading about the nervous system is a great start, but real transformation happens not through mental insight but lived experience. Somatic practice helps us with that.
Nervous system theory is a map. Somatic practice is walking the land, experiencing the weather and seeing the sights. You're bound to discover new paths and unexpected vistas.
As Deb Dana writes, “The nervous system doesn't respond to words; it responds to experience.” This is the heart of why somatic work matters — it goes to the nub of where change happens: in your body.
Over time, you will notice the subtle signals of activation and regulation as they express themselves in the language of sensation. As you become more aware of your system's ways of communicating, you have more choice in how you respond. You can then offer yourself new experiences of safety, connection, and capacity.

Let's talk, human to human, nervous system to nervous system.
"I wanted to explore the role of my nervous system in Long Covid/Chronic fatigue. I was longing for more energy and vitality and an understanding of my body and nervous system to help me with fatigue and periodic depression. After our sessions, I have a deeper understanding of my nervous system and how it impacts my mood and outlook during the day as well as techniques for regulation. Through this work, I found more self acceptance and self love."
